Times have changed. People have changed. It is the “new normal” now. Current situation has forced all of us to rethink the way we live our lives. Need groceries? Hop on to RedMart. Need food? Get yourself a halal tingkat delivery. Want to have a social life? Well, there are zoom calls.
If you have been experiencing difficulties in adjusting to the new way of life, you are not alone. The rest of the world is experiencing it too.
Start of a global pandemic
Since early 2020 when Covid-19 was still known as Wuhan virus to the world, many of us were neither worried nor bothered by it. We knew what was happening, but we thought the virus would only be contained in Wuhan, China, then.
Not until in early April, when cases of the virus starting spreading like wildfire. The Singapore Government decided to do a country-wide lockdown, also known as circuit breaker measures. It was a stay-at-home order that restricted movements for Singaporeans. Only those who were doing essential tasks such as in the medical line were exempted.
This lasted for two whole months. During the period of 60 days, everyone who were in Singapore had to change their way of life and habits. Several companies made lots of money during this time. Food delivery companies such as GrabFood, Deliveroo as well as Foodpanda saw an increase in sales. Places that sold hand sanitisers were also booming. Before you knew it, there was a price hike in these essential products. Products that were key in ensuring that people could survive without being exposed to what we know today as Covid-19.
Surviving tough times with halal tingkat delivery
Thankfully, there were several other options when it came to food. Companies and caterers that did tingkat delivery in Singapore helped a lot then. The only problem then was for people to get used to it. There were a lot of opinions on tingkat delivery, or even halal tingkat delivery in Singapore. Perceptions on these foods being boring and blend were the few common ones.
Still, there were pros when it came to subscribing to halal tingkat delivery. Considering I am one of them, the first-hand experience about a halal tingkat meal here is of utmost relevance.
Depending on the number of days that you choose, food will always be available at your doorstep. And there is no commitment when it comes to the frequency of halal tingkat delivery.
Secondly, you don’t have to be stressed out about what you need to buy or cook for dinner. Trust me, it’s even harder and more stressful when you have a family, with kids. And having a halal tingkat meal or delivery sent to your place every day takes away that one big burden.
Thirdly and arguably the most impressive? The halal tingkat food delivery that I subscribed to was as tasty as my mum’s cooking. Feels like I was still bunking in with my parents and I was eating my mum’s food. Everything felt warm and cosy. Brought me right back to the time when I was still single and staying with my folks. Regardless of whatever troubles I faced outside or at work, I can always just come back to a proper dining table to have a proper, peaceful and tasty meal.
Of course, I can understand this probably sounds a tad exaggerated to you. I don’t blame you because it even reads a tad exaggerated to me when I type it down. The truth is you can get sick of the food if you’ve been working from home these past 2 years. Everything can get really blend, really quickly. It does not matter whether it’s from your favourite ayam masak cili stall, or some nasi ayam joint.
Pandemic carries on
And that’s what the circuit breaker did, not just to me, but to a lot of other Singaporeans as well. At the end of the second month, when all of us thought the circuit breaker measures were permanently gone, we had to return to a phase of crowd control for a week. A year later, Singapore went into “Heightened Alert” some time in the middle of May 2021. That’s because a cluster was found in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
As a result, eateries were closed, gyms were shut down and students had to be home-schooled. Alas, the Covid-19 virus mutated into a more powerful variant of a coronavirus. It was more potent than ever and it hit us hard once more.
For me and, perhaps, a lot of other people, we were back to having halal tingkat delivery again. While that sounds bad, it’s a lot more adaptable this time round. Our mentalities are now “we did it before, we can do it again”.
And did it again we accomplished. I will not lie. It felt like a good part of our lives were snatched from all of us. I felt it, and I’m sure everyone else in Singapore felt the same way. More jobs were lost, more eateries closed down permanently and, of course, more people fell sick during this period. It was a time that was darker than before, harder than before and, yet more familiar than before.
Familiar situation, familiar survival options
For me and my family, we went back to halal tingkat delivery. In fact, we ordered from the same catering company as before (during circuit breaker). Prices remained, thankfully, and we were more than happy to order the full 20 days a month… again. And that’s even though the caterer offers a 3-day trial for customers.
Only difference for us was instead of ordering 3 dishes, we changed and took on 4 dishes in total. Yes, it was obviously slightly pricier, but let’s be frank now. We were already in a situation where our lives can’t be any more depressing, might as well have a good meal while at it, no? Plus, prices were not unreasonable, if just slightly more than walking out to buy back yourself.
With most, if not all, things being easily available on the Internet and online. Everything was clear and concise, which means having to order from the caterer’s website was easy as breathing. As aforementioned, the catering service company that I went for that does halal tingkat delivery in Singapore does not supply food on weekends and on public holidays. I am not complaining since I’ll either be visiting my parents or my in-laws then. This gives my wife and I the freedom of having the halal tingkat food delivery whenever we need it. Again, just like when I was staying with my parents.
New normal with halal tingkat delivery in Singapore
With regards to the coronavirus, things in Singapore may have calmed down. Nevertheless, we are continuing our subscription with same halal tingkat delivery service. Yes, now is the time of Omicron – a newly mutated virus – but we have all grown used to it. That “new normal” is finally taking into effect. The hatred of wearing masks, using hand sanitisers and ordering in instead of going out to eat, etc.
It’s just that while the new regulations in Singapore allows up to 5 pax from the same household to have a meal together on the same table, my family and I will still want to continue to play safe. Since we have 2 young kids, it’s important that we bring them out, but it’s also important that we take the necessary precautions to ensure our kids are safe at home.
Hence, we are still having out halal tingkat food delivery twice a week. And that’s what we like about this catering service company the most – the flexibility it offers to its different customers.
In fact, my wife and I have been very satisfied with the service and food from Bayfront Catering Services, our usual caterer. We have even introduced them to our friends, families and colleagues. Even though there’s the regulation of 5 unique visitors allowed in a house, some of my friends still went ahead and ordered a buffet, albeit a mini one.
There’s more with mini buffet Sets
The mini buffet halal from Bayfront Catering Services allows you 4 different options. Each set comes with specific food offerings that will cater to different people with different palates. My buddy whom I recommended tried a couple of different sets before. According to him, set A and B, for instance, varies significantly in terms of food offerings. Needless to say, the halal mini buffet set B will set you back $12 per pax. On the other hand, the mini buffet set A will cost you just $10 per pax.
Mini buffet set D, on the other hand, is at its priciest at $17.80 per pax. But no surprises here as it offers seafood dishes, and a variety of meat dishes such as duck and Herbal Chicken W Wolfberries.
Whatever set you decide to go for, regardless, it will be able to cater to your family as well as your 5 unique guests well without all of you feeling like you are being overfed. And that’s key, especially when you’re ordering buffet.
In sort of makes sense if you look through the different buffet options and menu that Bayfront Catering Services offers. Apart from the mini buffet options, this catering company also has the regular and the premium buffet sets. Obviously, these 2 buffet sets will cater better to a bigger crowd.
Regular buffet for those with bigger appetite
The regular buffet has a variety of options widened up as compared to the mini buffet. But not to the point of being overly complex or over comprehensive where you start having a big headache of what you should or should not order. That’s because there are a total of 9 different options for the regular buffet. From vegetarian with up to 10 courses to a simpler regular menu with up to 7 courses, there’s always something for everyone, every time.
As for premium buffet, this has to be the weapon of choice. That’s because, while it is nothing like halal tingkat delivery or any other halal buffet catering options, things can get really interesting here.
Premium buffet… when situation allows
The Premium Buffet has 5 different options to choose from, mainly with the difference of being deluxe and regular. Here, not only do you get seafood options, there’s also a drink option for you to choose from, making it a properly served buffet for your guests.
While the regular menu with up to 13 courses will set you back just $21.80/pax, the deluxe is the cream of the crop. If you have a bigger budget to spend, this is certainly the weapon of choice.
The deluxe menu starts from $26.80/pax and it offers mouth-watering food options. These include Assorted Fried Platter Seafood ball with squid ink, prawn paste ball with fish roe, sea urchin flavour ball as well as Golden Fried Rice with Ebiko. And if these are not good enough for you, you and your guests will also have the option of enjoying a Black Pepper Slipper Lobster dish.
Thankfully, as with the rest of all of Bayfront’s offerings, the food is halal certified. I mean, that will be stating the obvious, since the company is a halal certified catering company in Singapore.
For now, halal tingkat food is still the best choice
What isn’t going to be as obvious, however, is just how much of a pleasant surprise the halal tingkat delivery in Singapore is – at least from this catering company. I say this with the utmost honesty because I’m sure a lot of people are not going to be open to tingkat delivery or even halal tingkat delivery here in Singapore.
It’s not hard to think this way, really. Subscribing to halal tingkat delivery in Singapore seems like a bit of a stretch. After all, hawker centres are everywhere here, and ordering in isn’t exactly hard. Better yet, you can easily fix your cravings with whatever choices of food are available on the different delivery services. But are they healthy for your family? Well… that’s another question altogether.
I don’t know about you, but as I age, I get more particular with the food that goes into my body. After all, we become what we put into our bodies, no? If I consume too much processed and fried food, my health will be affected. This concerns me. Thankfully, it’s literally home cooked healthy halal food when it comes to halal tingkat Singapore.
Plus, I have two little kids. Do my wife and I want to risk eating unhealthy food just to constantly fix our cravings? Or do we want to live healthily in an already not-so-healthy-world just so we can see our kids grow up? In that sense, I suppose we choose the latter. And more importantly as parents, we want to do our best in our roles to set a good example for our kids. The sort that prioritises healthy food over fixing constant cravings.
