The problem with ordering a buffet is the leftovers. There are 50 pax for a party, and for whatever unknown reasons that cross your mind, you decide to go with 55 pax – mostly for the fear of not having enough food for your distinguished guests. Problem occurs – leftovers.
You’re then left to almost ‘beg’ your guests to pack the remaining food or they’ll have the be thrown out… or just get packed by you enough to fill your entire refrigerator for the next month.
Painful experience
You want to throw the food out, but considering how much effort, time and money spent on the food, you can hardly find the heart to bin them. And in all honesty, you’re not to blame. There are people dying in Africa because they are literally making cookies from mud and there you are complaining about having to pack too much food from the buffet that you had yesterday.
Such an experience with excess food can only lead to unnecessary phobia of organising another get-together or a massive party for your kid’s birthday. Party for 10? Not a problem. But as the numbers go up, so does your heart rate and anxiety. Why? Simply because the estimation for buffet order becomes a problem. Oh… and there’s the cost element as well.
Painful pocket
So what do you do now? Well, I did what I had to do. I downsized the number of pax, which is the most obvious and natural thing to do. Gathering for 20 pax? I ordered a buffet for 15 pax instead. But here’s the issue – not all catering companies do a buffet for 15. There is a minimum order regulation, which means the buffet may have to start from 20 pax. Different catering companies have different regulations, of course.
And when such a difficult and rigid rule comes into play, you’ll be left stranded with the same problem – leftovers. Yes, it’s a vicious cycle that you can never get out of. More food, more money spend… More leftovers, more money wasted… Singaporeans cannot seem to get enough of creating our very own problems when it comes to ordering buffet.
The mini buffet solution
That’s when I found the mini buffet solution. It’s almost sounds contradictory and irrational when it comes to something like this. Can a buffet be mini? Apparently, yes.
You get to choose your dishes like any regular ones with a mini buffet – and that includes your main courses, chicken, vegetables and even dessert – at a smaller portion and at a more affordable price. Of course, this also depends on the number of pax you are catering for.
As a benchmark, you can expect to have a mini buffet for 8 pax for price of approximately $90. That’s about $11 per head, which is nothing less than reasonable.
And it’s more about just the price, which in itself is already a highly important factor to consider. It’s also about the quality of the food that comes with a mini buffet. Imagine your guests coming for your party just to start whispering behind your back about how nauseated they feel about your food. You wouldn’t want that. In fact, no one in the right frame of mind would want that for themselves.
Bayfront Catering Services to the rescue
Thankfully, Bayfront Catering Services has all the boxes checked when it comes to quality and quantity. Instead of over-selling and over-charging, the guys at Bayfront Catering Services will rather give you the right quality and quantity so that you’re able to avoid having leftovers and low-quality food.
It’s about doing things right with this catering company. Thus, having the mini buffet option enables a lot of people to enjoy their gatherings and parties alike without having to worry about excess food.
It’s not just one option, mind you. There are several mini buffet options with Bayfront Catering Services, which sort of gives people the choice to enjoy whichever food they want. Best of all, this company is a MUIS halal-certified catering provider.
I guess there’s really nothing mini about ordering a mini buffet then, huh.
